Day 4.365 – Alien abduction?!

…Or am I just a crazy person? …I don’t know…. =) lol

Day 4

Chris got home from work tonight and I headed right out to do my 365. I had been thinking about it all day but had yet to come up with any real ideas for the shot. So I aimlessly drove around our side of town until I decided to go see what was behind the old Wal-Mart in front of the neighborhood where I grew up.

It’s a bowling alley now. It seems to be doing pretty well too. I managed to find something that was remotely interesting – some stairs that used to lead to one of the loading dock doors that had been walled up. I spent some time there playing around but not really getting anything that looked interesting. So I turned the camera around and set up my flash up on the hood of my truck (to get some added height) and played around with the sky as the background.

Strobist info on this one (no photo today, sorry): Flash 3ft to right of camera on the manfroto nano stand – which was 4ft high and on top of the hood of my truck. Total height was around 7-8ft. Settings 24mm @1/128 power – shot through umbrella pointed down at me. Triggered with Pocket wizard (held one in my hand to keep popping the flash while the shutter was open).

Camera Info: Shutter: 10 sec. Aperture: 4.5 ISO: 200 Focal length: 27mm On tripod (lens: 18-70mm 3.5 kit lens)

Here’s an outtake on the stairs I mentioned…. I played with the image but I’m more pleased with the image I settled on making my day 4.365. And yes… that’s my wand. I’m a dork. I love all the Harry Potter books and movies. =)

Strobisst info on this: Flash at camera left with my diy straw-grid-snoot (made out of a lays plastic can), at 1/32 power, 24mm, on manfroto nano stand extended to full 6+ft. Flash triggered with Pocket Wizard.

Camera Info:   Shutter= 1second  Aperture= 4.5   Focal length= 55mm ISO= 500   *Shot on tripod with remote shutter release.

**some post on this one – used TRA actions and added in the wand light [lumos].

Well…. that’s it for now… Thanks for stopping by! I’d love to hear your thoughts on these two images, so please leave a comment to let me know what you think. =)
